This Haunted World is anIN-YOUR-FACE dark mystery, with political scandals, a little bit of paranormal, and a WHOLE LOT of death. From the first page to the last, readers will be baffled by the mysterious Man in the Hills, who is building an army amid the souls of the dead. Or so it seems?Pandemonium is erupting across the world. And our main characters are all in midst of the chaos. In the hills of Afghanistan, Corporal Nunez has witnessed a massacre. When he has to recount the events to the Committee of Intelligence back in Washington, DC, the government dismisses his story and considers him a crazy wounded veteran. He’s later carted back to the hospital, without a second thought or a second glance. Next is Daniel Ismail, a Malaysian student who came to the US to study parapsychology. In River Bend, North Carolina, Daniel is being held for questioning about two homicides. Informed by his lawyer, his fingerprints appear at each crime scene. His defense: He hunts ghosts. While spending the night in jail, all hell breaks loose, literally. Soon Daniel finds himself on the run. Finally, we get a peek at Senator Max Lunford, an "ultra-Christian" politician who is on the edge. His career is taking a nose dive to the bottom of the political barrel. If only he could find a crusade to save him. Could the events be his salvation?Overall, This Haunted World is an eerie tale with a creepy factor that is OFF-THE-CHARTS. The dark and ominous overtones will leave you too terrified to turn the page. The first issue does an excellent job setting up the momentum as well as the tone of the story. I can’t wait to read the next issue, and I hope it’s just as chilling, if not completelybloodcurdling. I recommend this graphic novel series for readers who enjoy stories that might push them out of their comfort zone, and for those who love sleeping with the lights on.
